Spanish Colonial style villa located 50 minutes from Medellin and the Airport that serves it, and just a 15-minute drive from the nearest town, La Ceja.
The 18-acre (76.800sqm) property is perched on a 7,200-ft (2,200mts) high mountain top (average temp 65°F-18°C) featuring a stunning panoramic view of the San Nicolás Valley and “El Capiro” mount.
Montes Claros is a private, secluded oasis of serenity, offering an ideal place for guests to rest, relax and experience a truly memorable stay.
Formerly the home and workshop of late Panamanian-Colombian sculptor and painter, Justo Arosemena Lacayo, where the artist lived and worked for the last ten years of his life.
Montes Claros’ building complex is anchored by an iconic workshop, of Spanish Mission style architecture, at its core. At the workshop’s footstep, a center courtyard is flanked by other buildings housing the guest bedrooms, bathrooms, living room, central kitchen and dining room.
The building complex is surrounded by the property’s own gardens, pastures, and primeval Andean mountain forest, all accessible to guests.
In addition to the listed bedrooms and baths, guests will have access to the following areas:
* Main dinning room and kitchen.
* Family room with wood-burning fireplace, minibar and TV set.
* Social bathrooms.
* Central courtyard, flanking corridors and workshop atrium.
* Gardens and pastures around the property.
* Primeval Andean mountain forest within the property.
Complete meal service (i.e., breakfast, lunch and dinner) is included with the nightly rate and will be provided by our in-house marvelous cook.
Menu options which include, but are not limited to, a variety of delicious local dishes, will be presented for your review and selection during booking.
You may also bring your choice of snacks and beverages for your consumption.
All provided food and beverages are prepared with safe drinking water sourced from commercial distributors. The tap water, sourced from mountain springs within the property, is crystal clear and safe for bathing and washing. However, it is not treated or recommended for human consumption.
Our housekeepers will assist you during your stay at the property, including cooking, cleaning and laundry services. They will be available to ensure all systems are operating properly and resolve any potential issues.

- Staying guests may entertain visiting friends and/or family during the day. However, their visit must be previously approved and coordinated with your host, and at least one guest-meal service (lunch or dinner) must be paid for each visitor, whether they consume it or not.
- Staying guests will be charged an additional fee of $50 USD per guest meal, per guest.
- All visitors should be pre-approved by host prior to their arrival at the building.
- Unauthorized visitors will be charged $100 per/person per night (no meals included)
- No unauthorized gatherings or parties.
- Smoking is not allowed inside buildings and should only be done outside.
- Inappropriate behavior in the common areas of the building is NOT permitted (drug use, damage to grounds, fighting or violence, sexual acts) and will result in a fine of 2,000 USD
Cancellation Policy:
Travelers who cancel at least 30 days before check-in will get back 100% of the amount they’ve paid. If they cancel between 14 and 30 days before check-in, they’ll get back 50%. Otherwise, they won’t get a refund.
